Adding Products

To add a new product to your store, there are a few required fields to fill out: Name, Price, and Image. However, there are many more optional fields available for better product management. Below is a breakdown of each field:


Product Fields #

1. Name #

This is the title of your product. It should be descriptive and engaging, helping customers understand the product at a glance.

2. Price #

This is the regular selling price of your product.

3. Sale Price #

If you want to offer a discount on your product, you can enter the sale price here. If no discount is available, leave it blank.

4. Status #

  • Draft: The product is saved but not visible to customers. You can use this to keep incomplete product listings until you’re ready to publish.
  • Published: The product is live on your store and visible to customers.


5. Visibility #

  • Shop and Search Results: The product appears in both your online store and in search results.
  • Search Only: The product will only appear in search results and not in the main shop listing.
  • Shop Only: The product will only be visible in your shop, not in search results.
  • Hidden: The product will be hidden from both the shop and search results. This could be useful for private products.


6. Description #

A detailed explanation of your product, which will appear on the product’s individual page.


7. Short Description #

A brief summary of your product, typically shown next to the product image in your store.


8. Images #

You can upload multiple images for your product. The first image in the list will be set as the product’s cover image.


9. Slug #

This is the URL-friendly version of your product name. It helps with SEO and makes the product URL easier to share.


10. SKU #

A unique identifier for your product, used for inventory management.


11. Link #

This allows you to copy the product link.


Product Attributes #

1. Tax Status #

  • Taxable: The product is subject to tax.
  • Shipping Only: Only shipping costs are taxable, not the product itself.
  • None: No tax is applied to the product.


2. Tax Class #

  • Standard Rate: This is the default tax rate applied to most products.
  • Reduced Rate: For items that qualify for a reduced tax rate.
  • Zero Rate: No tax is applied to the product.




Product Type #

1. Data Type #

  • Simple Product: A single item with no variations (e.g., a book or a chair).
  • Grouped Product: A collection of related products sold together, but individually (e.g., a set of matching kitchen items).
  • External/Affiliate Product: A product you list in your store, but it’s sold on another website.
  • Variable Product: A product with different variations, such as size or color (e.g., a T-shirt available in different sizes).


2. Virtual #

Check this box if the product is a virtual item (e.g., a service or membership), which doesn’t require shipping.


3. Downloadable #

If your product is a digital file, check this box to provide a downloadable link to customers after purchase.



Categories and Tags #

1. Categories #

Select the category under which your product falls. This helps organize your products in your store.


2. Tags #

Add tags to help describe the product in more detail and improve searchability.



Inventory Management #

1. SKU #

A unique identifier used to track inventory.


2. Stock Management #

You can enable stock management and set purchase limits to ensure you don’t oversell a product.


3. Stock Status #

Set the stock status to one of the following: In Stock, Out of Stock, or On Backorder.


4. Quantity #

Enter the quantity available for sale.



Shipping Options #

Shipping #

  • Weight: The product’s weight.
  • Dimensions: The length, width, and height of the product.
  • Shipping Class: Select the shipping class if you have different rates for specific types of products.


Linked Products #

Up-sells
Add products here that you want to recommend to customers as a higher-end alternative.

Cross-sells
Add products to suggest to customers during checkout, encouraging them to buy related items.



Advanced Options #

Purchase Notes #

You can add custom notes here that will be sent to customers after they purchase the product, such as delivery instructions.


Reviews #

Enable or disable reviews for this product.


Menu Order #

Control the order in which this product appears in the catalog by setting the menu order.

These fields help create a comprehensive product listing to attract customers and provide all necessary details.
