Store Setup: General Settings

The General Settings tab is automatically configured for business owners upon signing up. This section is designed to provide flexibility, allowing owners to modify their preferences as needed, especially if they change their location or operational focus. Here’s a detailed overview of the settings available in this section:

Address Line 1:

  • Description: This is the primary street address for your business location. This information is essential for billing, shipping, and customer inquiries.


Address Line 2:

  • Description: This optional field allows you to add any additional address details for your business. This can be useful for suite numbers, building names, or other specifics.


City:

  • Description: Specify the city in which your business operates. This information helps customers identify your location and may be relevant for shipping calculations.


Country / State:

  • Description: Indicate the country and state (or province) where your business is located. For example, “Guyana.” This is crucial for compliance with local regulations and for determining shipping zones.


Postcode / ZIP:

  • Description: Enter the postal code for your business location, if applicable. This ensures accurate delivery of goods and services.


Selling Location(s):

  • This setting allows you to define the countries you are willing to sell to:
    • Sell to all countries: Open sales to every country.
    • Sell to all countries, except for…: Specify exceptions if you wish to exclude certain countries.
    • Sell to specific countries: Limit sales to selected countries only.


Shipping Location(s):

  • Choose your shipping parameters:
    • Ship to all countries you sell to: Automatically ship to any country you sell to.
    • Ship to specific countries: Restrict shipping to selected countries only.


Default Customer Location:

  • Shop country/region: This option sets the default location for customers based on their geolocation.


Enable Taxes:

  • Description: This toggle allows you to enable tax rates and calculations. Taxes will be computed at checkout based on the configured rates.


Enable Coupons:

  • Description: Activating this option allows customers to use coupon codes during checkout. Coupons can be applied from both the cart and checkout pages.


Calculate Coupon Discounts Sequentially:

  • Description: If multiple coupons are applied, this setting determines the order of discount applications. The first coupon applies to the total price, while subsequent coupons apply to the already discounted price.


Currency:

  • Description: This controls the currency in which prices are displayed in the catalog and the currencies accepted by payment gateways. For example, “Guyanese dollar (GYD).”


Currency Position:

  • Description: This option sets the position of the currency symbol (e.g., left of the amount).

Thousand Separator:

  • Description: This defines the symbol used as a thousand separator in displayed prices (e.g., “,”).

Decimal Separator:

  • Description: This specifies the symbol used as a decimal separator in prices (e.g., “.”).

Number of Decimals:

  • Description: This setting controls how many decimal points are shown in displayed prices (e.g., 2 decimals).

    These general settings provide a foundational configuration that can adapt to your business needs and enhance the shopping experience for your customers. Business owners are encouraged to review and modify these settings as necessary to align with their operational goals.
